TIM KNAUS

Tim Knaus attended the U.S. Air Force Academy from 1968-1970. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School with a BS in 1973 and received his MBA from Drexel University in 1978.

Tim started his career after the Air Force in commercial banking. Following completion of his MBA, Tim joined Container Corporation of America as a manufacturing Plant Controller. After a series of promotions and a relocation to Chicago, Tim became Division Controller and then Assistant Treasurer. While there, his attention turned to bank relations, debt issues, cash flow and equipment lease opportunities.

Tim returned to operations after six years at corporate headquarters and led his first manufacturing business unit with P&L responsibility. He focused on broadening the sales base, finding new markets and integrating the operation into a new parent company, Smurfit Group. After six years of running his business for cash flow, Tim marketed and sold this no-longer-strategic business for Smurfit.

Tim led Inplex Custom Extruders, LLC from 2000 to 2008 as President and CEO. Under his leadership, this private equity owned company paid off its acquisition debt in four years and achieved ISO 9001:2000 quality registration. Tim transitioned this business to Internet lead acquisition and brand promotion. With his guidance the shareholders of Inplex earned a 25 percent pre-tax return on net assets and made a profit in every year. Tim had the good fortune early in his career to be challenged with a significant strategic thinking assignment for Avery Dennison. This enabled him to move cross-functionally to Director of Marketing and Engineering and to develop depth in strategic selling of technically laden products.
